Labels: Initial Records
Review by: Shawn Cameron
I put off buying this for a long time due to
- the price
- it’s on initial and initial doesn’t have a good reputation in my opinion.
Fortunately I gave in. Ink and Dagger have progressed so much it isn’t funny. They have dropped the vampire thing, I didnt mind either way, and have opted for a very abnormal style of hardcore. Punk and garage among other styles are hinted towards. The songs flow very smoothly despite the fact there are several time and tempo changes. There seems to be several songs tied into one and it fits amazingly well. I have to say i like this much better than their previous efforts. I anxiously await their upcoming full length on New American Dream records.
Le Shok, from this song alone, have the potential to be one of my favorite bands. The song structure is so simple but the song gets stuck in your head forever. Le Shok also thread uncharted styles of music with elements of garage, pop, San Diego style hardcore and many others. It has the keyboardist (Joey) from the Locust but you wouldnt be able to tell.
This 7″ is highly recomended. Le Shok also have a record coming out on gsl in the new year.
