Insted was one of those bands that I never really knew much about, heard the name here and there but that was all. On reflection this is a shame and I feel, as with a lot of things that I discover much later, that maybe I should try and be a be more inquisitive as when I find things like this I sorta feel that I missed out.
So this is (as far as I know) a complete discography of the Californian band Insted, and it’s great life affirming stuff from when this type of hardcore was a bit more punk influenced still, or as Dan Yemin might have put it,”less Deicide, more Minor Threat”, or in this case “more 7 Seconds”.
44 tracks on one cd might seem like a bit of a slog but surprisingly I found it not to be though it obviously does require quite a lot of time to absorb. However, to the bands credit their quality control seems to have been quite sharp, so ultimately it’s pretty rewarding.
If you are looking for a break from downbeat spazzing and haircore then look no further.
