Jackie O Motherfucker - Change - LP (2002)

Labels: Textile
Review by: Chris Bress

This new LP by the American improvisational art rockers shows them up as being one of the best avant garde / lo-fi groups out of America at the moment. They are all over the fucking place! From free-jazz to droning noise pieces to Americana moments. They just defeat all! My favourite track has to be the second which branhces off into a weird as hell Tanakh meets Current 93 piece of vocal weirdness whilst still sounding totally unique. The second side opens with an almost Sun Ra moment and then slowly builds up and up with some Nurse With Wound meets Can-esque drumming.

I did however notice that the cd had a load of extra tracks on it compared to the vinyl though which is a bit shit!

Listening to this now just makes me want to kick myself for not going to see them with the Vibracathedral Orchestra recently>!>!
