One great lesson to learn in life is to not take things for granted. Especially when buying records. Do not pick up a record just because the band is familiar, has a nice cover and comes in coloured vinyl. So upon reaching my stereo, I realized I bought a Smiths tribute. I love The Smiths. They’re awesome. Top legendary indie stuff.
Jejune do their bit with ‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’. Intros with jangly guitars until the vocals come on and completely destroys the weather. Even though Araby backs it up nicely, it was unbearable. Stop. Overside. Lazycain. Who are these dudes? I don’t know. Covering ‘Handsome Devil’ in a slightly different direction. Gotta give credit for the dualing covers and nice fat chunky basslines but other than that, sorry. No one can top Morrissey. Nope. Please listen to the originals. I learn my lesson well.
