Review by: Chris Bress
I think the name of the label this cd is on pretty much sums up this record. Jerry Fels plays nice, poppy singer / songwriter indie that’s not exactly the most original thing I’ve ever heard and certainly not the best but it has its qualities. I definitely played this CD on a good day, it’s boiling hot, me and my girlfriend just had a lovely lunch, I’ve got four days off in a row and I’m off to see Oxbow (and Luke Younger DJ!) tonight. Jerry Fels really reminds me of a tape I was made when I was about 16, it had stuff like Beat Happening, Built To Spill, Shep, Palace and loads of poppy niceness and even though I’m not exactly blown away I’m happy that the DIY indie rock underground has people carrying it on and not just trying to sound like Elliot Smith and Brendan Benson. If you like the more straight forward K records stuff then this cd is for you.
