Haven’t got a clue how old this 7″ is but every now and again I buy some random record at a gig and it turns out to be so awesome I can’t help but write a few words about it. Of course it doesn’t always work out so swimmingly – the John Holmes album hiding under a bunch of fanzines being the most recent “error in judgement”.
Anyway, two tracks but I’m gonna talk about the b-side, ‘Leave me alone’, first because its easily the best. Opening up with a delightful rumbling bass it quickly escalates into one remarkably catchy song with a definite Fugazi slant. Kodiak somehow manage to maintain an impressive melodic-hardcore edge while purveying the all important pop song. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
The other side of the vinyl sees Kodiak offering up more of the same and while not as instantly great as the b-side, ‘Zero’ it’s still a pretty potent effort.
A surprisingly excellent little 7″.
