I have wanted to get a hold of some Kurt records since hearing ‘Franklin’ on the “For Want Of…” comp. That tune was heavy assed hardcore much like this CD. The tunes here compile their LP and compilation tracks in some slicked assed packaging (a German speciality). The sound is what most would consider noisy post-hardcore, with melodies creeping in underneath the sheets of sound. These guys have a really massive sound for a 3 piece. Comparisons wise I can only say at times Kurt are reminiscent of a heavier, abrasive early Jawbox mixed with noisier Amphetamine Reptile Records influences. Musically they sound very similar to a band called Thirty Ought Six (who?) if that is any help (probably not!). Anyhow this may give you a slight indication of Kurt’s monolithic instrumentation and screamed vocal attack.
