Review by: Joe Caithness
I have had this record lying around for a while now and assumed it was really harsh so I left it until I was feeling in the mood. Well guess what folks it’s your lucky day it’s now spinning in my cd drive. I am trying to work out where this band are from, but I can’t so please someone let me know and append it in the little comments box at the bottom.
The artwork for this record is great, quite dark, its a mannekin like figure attatched to another by bolts/wires/cogs etc, this is taken into more detail on the inside. The CD itself comes in a folded red card sleeve in a plastic wallet type thing, the lyrics are in a booklet which is stuck inside the whole thing and the cd sits along side it, nice and original here.
First off, I am impressed. This is a great style they play great 90s heavy and gloomy hardcore ala Acme, One Eye God Prophecy and also Orchid mixed up with some of the more recent europeon screamo antics. It works really well. The production is very similar to that of the Uranus lp on Great American Steak Religion, guitars are piercing but the bass and the drums are really pounding and heavy, would be a great pacing about when your mad cd! There are melodic moments on here too, nothing cheesy or twinkly but it adds a nice balance.
I am exited to see what this band does next, chaotic but not cheesy or over the top to the point it becomes cheesy, also it isn’t just an Orchid clone, what ever your lazy friends might tell you!
