If you listen to screamy bands but don’t bother checking out Lachance, you are nuts. This killer 10″ establishes them as a total monster in this particular little subgenre of the hc scene. They totally nail the mix of panicked emotion and thunderous guitars, and the 10″ is the perfect vehicle for such a terrific burst of sustained blitzkrieg. It recalls the first Hot Cross 10″ in its effortless mix of guitar squeeling, vocal squawking, deft ability to drop out into emo twinkling, and desperate floor falling. All of which are elements that I love to have rammed in my ears when listening to a band spazz their way through their music. On these tracks Lachance perfect the ‘kids in the star wars garbage compactor’ vocals when required, with several boys all garbling wildly.
These guys and Ampere boss this type of music right now, get on it.
