This is a nicely put together DIY 7″, and the music ain’t so shabby either.
Lachance are first to parade their hardcore, and they introduce things with a
gently building twinkly starter, before picking up the urgency and exploding into
a hectic freak out that is easily comparable to Saetia. Guitars career around
noisil, the vocals are squawked out by a couple of guys, and there are some nice
subtle breakdowns too. It’s pretty decent! Nothing mesmerising or brand new, but
if you enjoy screamy emo, you will probably like this song. I did.
Occam’s Razor put out an ace 7″ not so long ago, and the music on here measures up
to that. I think they are going to be a band that one day people realise they wish
they had bought records of at the time they came out. They play totally intense
and flammable emo violence, screaming the house down in an attack of ferocity.
Sure, if you bought crazy records that came out in 1999/2000 or a good Reversal of
Man record then you know the score, but the Razor are sharp (chortle) and it
doesn’t sound old, shit or rehashed. The second song has a super ace emo intro
too. Good stuff!
My copy of this record came with a photocopied report on a patient who was a burns
victim in 1982. How exceptionally Witching Hour-esque! Neat. I also enjoyed Eric’s
note about why this record came out. Very posi!
