Lack of Zodiac - s/t - 7

Now this is a smart 7″, although I am pretty much lost at times to figure out what they sound like. Although at the start of the first song they are all about talky vocals and a certain guitar sound that makes me spray paint Moss Icon on your glasses. Then it gets more rumbling and noisier, building up with clashing guitars and crying / screaming vocals. Overall they play a strange sort of hardcore that has a San Diego element to it, Spanakorzo perhaps? Though I don’t know much of them. It’s very quirky and seemingly out of tune and dischordant and random and fucked up. They’ll just go off on mad tangents with screaming and spazzy riffing all of a sudden. It’s very hypnotic, the drumming fucking rules. And it’s also very arty, so my guess is that they get their influences from a tonne of bands from the 70’s and 80’s than they do from more modern bands, just taking those styles and doing something nasty to them. 5 songs all told, all of them suitably wrong in some strange way.

If you want some spastic hardcore that’s a little out of the ordinary, but isn’t as blatantly pissing about like Black Dice then check these guys. Nice job. Very rude record / cover / insert though! Hide it from your mummy!
