So a new(ish) Leatherface LP and their first (as far as I know) as a three piece, what is there to say really? It is a Leatherface album, all those reviews you see about bands where it says ‘sounds like Leatherface’, well this actually does, albeit going through the motions. Well maybe that’s a little harsh as there are still a few interesting moments on here and they probably gave it their all, but sometimes you do get the feeling that maybe it was done to a checklist almost to the degree where some of it (particularly some of the song titles) will make you cringe.
Not meaning to sound overly negative though as as suggested there is still plenty to appreciate and enjoy but I find I skip to specific tracks rather than leave it running though as a complete work like I would the genius of ‘Horsebox’ or ‘Mush’.
Leatherface then, by no means washed up, if you are a fan you will find something to enjoy here, but if you are a first timer then check out ‘Horsebox’ before this I think, yeah.
