So I wonder how many times this band has been compared to Boy Sets Fire? I’m thinking like EVERY REVIEW because the sounds of Lin and the sounds of BSF are so close they could well be family. You know the score: the twinkly melodic parts and softly sung vocals squaring up to more aggressive hardcore outbursts. I’d say Lin are perhaps a little less metal than BSF and drift towards the more choppy song structures. Which works well in parts – both ‘glassman 853’ and ‘vertigo’ have sections which have me nodding in agreement. But all to often an off kilter guitar rhythm kicks in and the song goes one way and my attention the other.
Lyrically this band writes from a personal perspective and if you like the BSF hardcore sound then chances are you’ll probably like this. Just don’t expect to be blown away.
