Lineout - Drowning Face - 7

Labels: Rage Of Achilles
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Whomp! There is some rather crushing music contained on each side of this brutal black piece of plastic. So brutal, that it leapt off the turntable, bashed me in the eye, and ran off down the road laughing.

First up is “œDrowning Face”, a heavy hitting, mid-paced cruncher. Repeatedly punching to the mid-riff, relentless. The punishing bass drum barrels into your ear drums and cymbals crash all around. Musically it’s comparable to the likes of Envy from Japan, with certain Orchid tendencies. There is the pre-requisite quiet bit in the middle, where they moodily twinkle for a moment or two. Then explode back into the noise. It’s backed up with “œBreak the Day”, which is faster, heavier, and more chaotic. Which is nice. Harsh, screamed vocals over the rumbling music, whilst taking hold over you with a classy groove later on in the track.

If you fancy the screamo-metal genre then this is right up your street, and you’ll be wanting to check these Swedes out. Nice one.
