Labels: Deep Elm
Review by: Damien Mills
So it has recently been suggested that Deep Elm have fallen out with us due to what I’ll call our lack of motivation to review to any form schedule, which I suppose would be fair enough if not for the much worse treatment some of their stuff has had on this site, surely if they were going to fall out with us they would have long ago?
So I promised myself I’d knuckle down a little and we finally have the Lock And Key review, now, obviously I’d really love to say this blows chunks but it;s actually quite good, sort of early Hot Water Music gone indie and with a bigger budget, it’ s still a bit Dawson’s Creek-core in places and in others is sort of pop-punky, and a lot of it sounds like it would be very at home on Firefly, but I don’t really have anything bad to say about it. Does ‘inoffensive’ count as bad??
So pretty good driving indie rock stuff, I quite like this, but then I own a couple of Brandtson cds so what do I know?
