£19.99 gets you not a fucking lot these days… 5 pints of Erdinger, two cds from hmv, a decent Asian horror dvd… You know the drill, a twenty note can enter and exit your wallet before you say, how did I pay for that chippy and the taxi home? Alternatively…. Three compact discs containing every single rare, unrealeased, remixed or out of print track the Low kids could dig up and thought good enough. One dvd, that is double sided, so it is like having two of them. One booklet that talks about all the songs. All within a lovely pale blue and white box that screams beauty at you.
You will not spend a better £19.99 ever.
For the neanderthals among you, Low play a stark and fragile brand of rock and roll that touches the heart and lulls it’s aches and your brain into a mood that’s relaxed and maudlin. The music they create has as much (if not more) power to break your heart as Songs: Ohia, Saetia or Sage Francis do. Oh and you get to hear really bad live recording of Low playing words, turn and over the ocean in the style of the Misfits. No really. Fun for sure, but I wish they hadnt tacked it on the end of the second disc.
