Review by: Andy Malcolm
Bright and breezy indie pop/rock here, this isn’t going to be a massively lengthy review, I can tell. Luxembourg utilise distinctly British vocals, which is nice, though the guy does sound a little too similar to your friend and mine, Morrissey, at times. Damn, I used to know a great football related Morrissey story, Danny Baker told it a few times, but I can’t recall it now for the life of me. Anyways. This is all suitably passable and would fit into the playlist on BBC Radio 6 with consumate ease (the last couple of times I have put that station on they were playing the likes of the Decemberists, Stapleton and the Pixies, so I presume its output is mostly indie type things?).
Highly accomplished, catchy, keyboard laden, driving indie pop. Other than the dull, grinding, uphill trudge of track 3. Not entirely the kind of music I ever would intend to listen to, but Luxembourg is sounding pretty acceptable to me on this Tuesday evening, although take it with a pinch of salt as my new cd player tends to make music I previously wouldn’t have gone near to sound actually quite nice in some mysterious way. Hohum.
