It’s been a while since I have heard Manifesto Jukebox, I wasn’t all that taken with the CD at the time, but it’s
nice to come back with fresh ears to the two tunes they blast out on here. “If I Had A Soul” is gruff
punk rock that at least vocally sounds a bit like Planes Mistaken for Stars. The guitars flail along at a
frightening pace, piling on the melodic hc – how much can you take? It’s all very solid, and I bet
that they are very good live too. The second track, “Gloves Come Off” though sounds like some carelessly discarded Mike
Kirsch track at times – it’s a spiralling explosion of dynamic guitar and riffing that somehow has some almost
ignored melody floating around in there, lingering on the edge of chaos. I is impressed.
Minority Blues Band contribute three of their own raucous melodic hc anthems to this 7 inch wide / long piece of
black plastic. “Bloodstain” goes all fast and the drums are hyper. I am still disappointed that I was on holiday
when these guys played Norwich a few months ago. Gah. MBB are pretty straight forward in that they simply rev up
all the instruments and play them extremely quickly as if Leatherface had all been set on fire. This makes for
some good punk rock. At least in my book.
