Matt Valentine - Creek to Creation - LP (2005)

Labels: qbico
Review by: Chris Bress

It was Valentine’s playing in the Tower Recordings that led me to pick up a couple of his credited solo records, both have a number of guests, and it just happens that the newest is also the worst.

Compared to the LP on Father Yod that I acquired at the same time this is totally awful, I just don’t understand it whatsoever. It kicks off with a track which sounds more like Black Dice or Mars than the folk / blues mixture of what I was expecting.

The whole record is made up of what to me just sounds like messing around, and although I can imagine myself playing it and loving it when I’m 35, I’m not that old yet and just don’t like it at all!

The only other record I have on this label is Baroque Bordello LP, which like this has nice artwork but very silly music.
