New record from the apparently simultaneously hip and much maligned (always the way) Minus The Bear, ya know, ex Botch and all that.
I have their ‘Highly Refined Pirates’ effort and I quite like it, sort of dancey fun beats with sad sounding vocals, well this is more along those lines, seems sort of sadder and more downbeat but in the music as well as the vocals, not much to shake your ‘booty’ to so be warned, hipsters.
It’s alot more subtle than previous works and there’s not really anything catchy about it and will take a lot more time to aborb which might lose them some of thier wankier fans (though most of those download rather than buy I suspect so they won’t really ‘lose’ anything) but be one of those annoying ‘rewarding for the perseverant’ things that we can all feel superior about, ace.
Not sure if it’s a natural progression or a very deliberate act to kind of show thier detractors that there is a bit more to them than hair cuts and wacky song titles, but it pretty much works for me either way….
