Bit of a bloody mouthful lads! But that’s OK, because this is a nice little surprise from out of left field, with just the right length (at about 20 minutes) to not get too exhausting with its particularly mind-bending take on that modern day hardcore sound popularised by the likes of Converge, but not so brief that you feel short-changed from your exchange of cold hard cash. With a bass-less setup that leaves the band lighter on its feet, they deliver some jarring uppercut guitar stabs with deadly precision, drums backing things up all the way, totally in tune with each other, before sending things spiralling into my good books with some full-on rocking melodic breaks. And being a Brit band, we get some barked lyrical content that takes it closer to home. Although it’s nothing new (perhaps a slightly oxymoronic statement given the genre we’re attempting to discuss here), this is some good, hard, complex, challenging stuff, yet thoroughly enjoyable with it and it’s much better than the vast majority of the bajillion bands out there jocking this style right now. Comes in some lovingly assembled DIY packaging too.
