A heavy-metal soundtrack to some righteous axe-swinging Orc decapitation sounds like a good night in to me. What this is actually soundtracking is a comic book, but unfortunately my German is “ein bischen scheisse’, so I can’t understand a word of it. It’s a beautifully rendered monochrome urban nightmare though, utilising what I’d imagine to be some sort of airbrush technique over real photographs, and seems mainly concerned with such macho pursuits as shooting people in the rain and wearing suits.
The music is the real clincher of course, for this is Mörser. A totally unholy guitar shitstorm unleashed by eight Germans (Bjorn, Andre, Denny, Matthias, Daniel, Dennis and two Svens), it sounds positively like an army trying to cave your goddamned skull in. They’ve moved on from their insanely heavy thrash roots long ago, opting for an Entombed-style metal hardcore hybrid that was backed up by sheer volume and raging power, plus a good few “licks”. This continues in the vein of “10,000 Bad Guys Dead”, with more spit and polish, and even more fire and brimstone. Utterly awesome.
