On Thin Ice - This Frozen Hell - CD (2004)

Labels: self released
Review by: Chris Bress

From the ashes of Canaan come On Thin Ice, and they’re pretty good! They’re taking a different direction down hardcore street and although I prefer most metal to chuggy hardcore this is a bit more enjoyable than Canaan (but that intro they used to do was ace). On Thin ice are still pretty metallic though but instead of Slayer its like a faster Judge meets a less old school Battery, and one song has a vocal part which is total Shark Attack. Even though this is really unoriginal it’s really listenable straight forward hardcore, and it sounds bloody good for a demo. At times I wish they were a little bit looser but that’s just me! This doubles up with another cdr demo from Innocent Blood who I thought not only had some of the worst lyrics I’ve ever read (what’s the point of just re-arranging older bands lyrics?) but also sounded too slow for what they were doing and just bored the shit out of me. Credit to them for recording in Margate and including the lyrics though.
