Part Chimp - Chart Pimp - CD (2002)

Labels: Rock Action
Review by: Luke Younger

If you have been attending shows in London for the last 2 years or so, you may have found it hard to not come accross Part Chimp. Not that that’s a bad thing of course – this, their debut album, is a devastating colision of dirge and melody carrying on in a similar fashion to guitarist Tim Cedar and drummer Hamilton Industry’s previous band Ligament. Songs like “Chimp Happy” and the wonderfully named “Hitlers and Jews” show Part Chimp at their most melodic, whilst losing none of the crushing heaviness that make tracks like “Ex-Ladyboy” and “Iron Pond” such mouth watering propositions. In fact, a finer start to a band’s discography than this, would actually be nearing impossible. Which is a very good thing indeed.
