Pezz - Warmth & Sincerity - CD (2000)

Labels: BYO
Review by: Russell Opie

Well, this pretty much blew me away on the first listen. And that very rarely happens. This is really melodic punk rock, say like Brocolli or Jawbreaker. This means its damn fine. And musically, its quite varied too between some slow tracks and some really fast ones. This is awesome. On the slower, more emotional songs, the vocalist sounds a lot like the Social Distortion guy, and on a couple of the others he really rocks it up and the vocals become a lot more shouted and strained. Wow.

I really can’t explain how great this is. Its almost perfect and I’m kicking myself for not picking this up sooner. Take “Never Enough” for example, one of the slower, more personal and sentimental songs. Lyrics are great, the emotion is there, and its a rocking little tune for sure. Meanwhile, “New Math” is an example of one of Pezz’s faster punk rock songs with some awesome choppy, guitar riffing and a great melodic chorus! You just know that this is gonna be awesome.

Look, basically, you will absolutely love this to bits. I can’t tell you enough how much of an amazing album this is. Pick it up now. And cherish it forever….
