I haven’t heard anything Pig Destroyer have done in a long time, but the last record I had was totally brutal grind. Having heard that their Nottingham gig was a bit below par I was a little reluctant to pick this up, but the promise of one nasty piece of grind amid the usual crap I buy was enough for me to take a chance. I have to say, I don’t think this record rocks as much as it should. Most of the factors that make a decent grind record are there: a great guitarist banging out four minute Carcass songs in thirty seconds, a drummer who’s bang on and a pretty gnarly vocalist. The thing is, about four fifths of the tracks on here are just straight up boring and dull. The plain-ness of the songs combined with the mostly terrible lyrics and poor artwork just didn’t stand up for me. Their Agoraphobic Nosebleed band are a much more effective blast, as are Discordance Axis or Nasum.
