Poostew - Struggle - CD (2005)

What a shitty name ho ho ho! But seriously folks, this is an absolutely ace slab of ripping death “˜n’ roll like only the Germans know how to do. We’re talking Mörser, Acme, Systral “” the usual suspects when it comes to full-on filthy Iron Maiden-esque rocking riffs twisted into manic and unpredictable Slayer-style grind and/or metal. That means it’s as catchy as it is loud and as fun as it is fast, with a dual-vocalled attack that has a screaming guy battle a growling dude, replete with lyrics of a political bent. As usual, Dirk at Kuschelrock Studios provides another amazingly thick and precise piece of production, and the band acquits itself marvellously.

Where this lot fall down is that whereas a band like Acme could actually become genuinely frightening when an especially violent and heavy section of intense riffing came along, Poostew don’t seem to be able to rise above being more than a bit of disposable fun, especially with that goddamn name! But what the hell, this flat out rocks.
