Best thing on Deep Elm I’ve yet heard. They feature Gabe from Mineral on drums, and Pop Unknown are rather indie, with a dab of pop.

Track one, “Follow You”, opens up with a tremendous 90 second long intro of a repetative, beautiful sounding guitar (I wish I knew what this sound was called, as it would make it easier), a little bit like Christie Front Drive. They then proceed to play a sumptuous song, that is probably the most emo of anything on here (in the way the music affects you), spellbinding, and it’ll captivate you for the whole 6 minutes and 12 seconds.

4 other songs feature. Treading the line between indie and emo, perhaps leaning more to the indie rock side, although the songs are generally slowish. One thing they never fail to do though it make you go all funny with their immaculately constructed songs which just seem to sound so perfect and nice, and oh, make you just gush about them. “This Guy’s Ready For Bed” being a perfect example. “Your Own Personal Wedding” cranks up the speed a bit, with a smidgeon of Get Up Kids rock attached. “Ink & Paper” has a lovely, indie pop-sounding chorus and some bubbly keyboards hidden away in there at times, and this contrasts with the rumbling and downbeat feel for the rest of the song. It’s closed out with “Tipping The Scale”, more wonderful sounding indie emo, with another bouncy indie chorus. Close to perfection in a genre where only that is good enough.

For those in need of something that can both rock a little bit, and make you go weak at the knees – Pop Unknown, though maybe not for long. Nyum, nyum, nyum.
