Year 3000 have somehow talked Pop Unknown into this venture making for an impressive release with UK emo-rock newcomers Sunfactor. All on a reassuringly thick slab of vinyl and with a lyric sheet for your trouble.

Musically, Pop Unknown emphasize the “pop” with an ultra melodic number to match say ‘Ink & Paper’ off their deep elm CD. If any other band tried this I’d probably shudder uncontrollably and banish the offending medium to the darkest corner of my room. But Pop Unknown do it so well, that I can’t help but listen to it again and again. Great stuff.

Sunfactor, meanwhile, contribute ‘Fall in New England’, which is a little disappointing as its not their strongest song by far. Melodic emo-rock which is by no means bad – but better things are definitely on the horizon from this band.
