This is the shit. You know, that shit you really enjoy taking. Yeah! Woo woo! Poo poo!
This double 7″ package (very cool!) gives you eight songs, so I guess it is basically a mini album! And across 8 songs, Potomac play some blistering hardcore that sounds exactly like the style I love. Powerful and exciting with an emo tinge. It’s mid-paced and crunchy, lacing melody with an aural assault. It blasts out in the vein of Books Lie and Torches to Rome, even has a touch of Born Against about it. The vocals are snarled and kinda snotty sometimes, and then shouted and RAAAAAAAAAAAARED at others. A real angry dude. I bet they rock it live. The drumming kicks my arse. They have the ability to make things varied though, “Sidewalk” has indie rock parts and some bouncy guitar which sound like Braid! And it alternates between that and being spastic emo like True Feedback Story.
Passionate and sincere, this is just kick-bum good. If someone gave me a hardcore-band-magi-mix machine, then Potomac have all the elements that I would throw into the blender, apart from, like, some chocolate sprinkles to go on top. Go get it, you big emo bastard.
