Ok, so as bored as I am of the whole satanic-imagery-in-hardcore thing , this is pretty cool: the label on side A of this shows a kid sitting at his desk by candlelight, making a shadow-puppet of the devil on the wall. Class.
Musically, it all revs up in your typical screamoviolence manner, Reversal of Man, Orchid et al being the favoured points of reference. This equals manic guitar scrapings and slit piggy throat vocals, harsh and nasty which should have hips popping and discs slipping on dancefloors across the land. Then things get kinda chuggy (I’m scared to use the word ‘mosh’ – more in the vein of My Hero Died Today scrapping it out with Linsay), albeit intertwined with some discordant parts or eerie little lead bits a la ‘Caring And Killing’-era Converge. Side B is definitely weaker – more chug, less spazz – but not to the point where it’s unlistenable. Lyrics are mostly in German with the odd snippet in English covering topics like the evils of television and the fact that nazism is prevalent in the black metal scene. Solid.
