Another great demo from Nottingham noise-punkers PTA. This kicks off with “negative negative” which is a great spazzed indie-punk track. The main riff reminds me of something from bleach era Nirvana, but it’s a lot noisier and really chunky. The effects on the backing vocals make this sound pretty evil.
The second song is just fucking awesome, the 70s style bass line (ala Goblin) stands prominently enough over the Wire / Gang Of Four guitar lines. About three minutes into this song it takes a really fucking noisy stab forward into Sonic Youth direction. This song rounds off as a more aggressive Monorchid track, and a gooood Monorchid track too!
The third track is one that always sounds fucking brilliant live. Mainly because the guitarist plays an almost At The Gates style riff. This is such a catchy tack and im sure if you hear it you’ll imagine a bunch of pissed up cunts screaming along.
The forth track has to be my favourite one though. The dirty guitar line is realllly sonic youth, its just so dirty sounding you could almost have a batt over it. It really reminds me of Big Black or Rapeman too. The backing singer sounds like Danzig too. Can you see the people crawling on their knees?
The fith track is really dark and a lot sparser than the others. So much that Nick Cave could almost sing on it and it wouldn’t sound silly. The chorus to this track is fucking wicked too. The spooky background vocals add to this one, and when the noise comes over the top your ready to explode and drink yourself to death. Don’t ask me what I mean but Im sure you’d feel the same way if you were listening to it now.
The last track is a lot more garage. Im not too up on garage rock, but to me it sounds like a much heavier version of Jon Spencer (but with more oooomph). It’s a bit Oi! Too.
Fucking get this, its amazing: educate@punishtheatom.com
