Very decent epic screamy stuff from a UK band I had never heard of before. It’s on a label called Faith in my Chest Records, which may or may not be a City of Caterpillar reference but I’m pretty sure this band have listened to them once or twice before. They’re by no means a tribute band though, in fact they sound very different. The quiet, post-rock bits are quieter and longer and the loud, screamy bits are more metallic and screechy. It’s good stuff, although I do find myself desiring a bit more rock that is exhibited in opener ‘Swords At Sunset’ or the sub-minute blast of ‘Fall of the Insect Empire’. It feels like the EP is split into two; the first half is generally more straighforward and heavy; the last 2 tracks are almost totally Godspeed-esque instrumentals with a few distorted screamy bits. This does make it feel slightly uneven but throughout the 24 minutes there is enough going on for it to demand a second listen. Lots of really interesting ideas and it’d probably be a treat to catch these guys live.
