Quest for Quintana Roo - Things to Remember - 7

Labels: Chongo Smash – Reeducation
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Wow. This is the final 3 songs from QFQR, and they go out with a bang. The first track fills aside and it is downright amazing. Total emo sadness. Mid-paced with mid 90’s guitar duelling it out with more modern melodic sounds, it fits totally in with such bands as Staircase (also sadly departed), or even a more screamo Yaphet Kotto – particularly on the first track on side two. The vocals on the first track shred my heart. It is probably the best song these guys ever did. Just full of passion and feeling. Throughtout this record they own the emo groove and totally spiral out of control. Wonderful. There is also a song without words. The band members write some things about them breaking up in the insert. From the heart.

For the kids that appeciate the good old screamy emo, you won’t want to miss out on this one. Gosh. I hope these guys find some new bands to make more amazing music with. RIP. QFQR was one of the good ones.
