Rats Into Robots - a column of smoke by day, a pillar of fire by night - CD (2005)

Rats Into Robots’ patently third-generation screamo moniker proves to be something of a suckerpunch “” you hit “˜play’ expecting some rehashed Jerome’s Dream pussyfooting and end up having your neck twisted by something else entirely. A Column Of Smoke”¦ mingles the turbulent, complex sounds of Majority Rule with the shit-tonne of heaviness Tragedy might bring to the table, dosing it with enough weird, noisy interludes and Helen of Troyish delay pedal chicanery to keep things interesting between bouts of pummelling. The result is a pretty smart shake, rattle and rolling of the bones that sits nicely alongside bands like A Light In The Attic who play heavy, inventive hardcore that simultaneously brutalises and disorientates the listener. Good stuff!
