Labels: No Idea Records

This bands name makes me think up strange stuff. Like, what is a Rumbleseat? My favourite think was that maybe it was this special chair that was in a classroom at school, and whoever got to sit in it farted a lot. Henceforth, it was the Rumbleseat.
Anyway, they’ve got at least 1 member of Hot Water Music in them (Chuck Ragan – and at last I am able to answer my own question as to whether he is in PUKU13 or not) and maybe one more also (there are guys called Chris on this and HWM) although when one the guys speaks at the end of the first song (I think he says “You can cut my arm off now”!) he sounds English. Hohum.
Two songs on this 7″, first up is “Picker” which is a quite energetic acoustic number with singing that doesn’t sound anything like HWM. Actually has a sorta country feel to it. On the b is a song called “Moonshiner” which features a definite non HWM member in a girl called Samantha Jones. It’s apparently a traditional song. And it definitely sounds it. Has harmonica on it and stuff. Neato.
And this probably gets boring, but it’s on No Idea so it has cool packaging (the band name on raised lettering) and the vinyl looks great too – that lovely marbled brown effect like on the HWM / Clairmel split. And the b-side has “Bass Turds” written on the sticker, which amused my small mind.
Rumbleseat are way cool! I think I’d appreciate them more over an album. Note: I couldn’t afford to buy this release’s pal (2 7″ers have come out at the same time), so if you like this, it’d probably be worth getting the other too.
