Ryan Adams & the Cardinals - Let It Ride - CD (2005)

Labels: Universal
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Ryan Adams has teamed up with Scott Rolen and Albert Pujols to produce this slice of fairly bog standard “alt-country”. This means its a bunch of Americans revelling in their lack of culture, singing in that funny accent they have and playing their instruments in a remarkably simplistic fashion, and all the while they are sunning their necks to a bright rouge due to a lack of sunscreen. To be fair, this song is pretty nice and listenable, albeit uninspired and not particularly creative – though those are not always attributes that I demand from much of the shit I listen to, admittedly.

Overall “Let It Ride” is slick, tasteless, yet ultimately not really too bad. Fair play to Ryan and his Cardinals. Indeed Tony La Russa plays a mean triangle.
