Labels: Tiger Style Records

Rye Coalition are back with their third album, and first for Tiger Style. After a great 7″, I was looking forward to this a hell of a lot and it’s good to see that this New York 5 piece decided to not let me down. ‘On Top’ is Rye Coalition’s most riff fueled record yet – it seems to take more influences from Aerosmith and AC/DC than it does from the Jesus Lizard, but that’s not to say that it becomes a total stadium rock record. Steve Albini provides an excellent production job, the songs are delivered with pleanty of punch and sassiness, and the adding of a 2nd guitar has really filled out their sound. In this current time of music when shit New York bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s get massivley hyped on the basis of fuck all, it’s totally great to see an awesome band like Rye Coalition be slighlty on the fringe of that and be able to blow nearly all of those bands out of the water. Right ON.
