Scared of Chaka - Automatic - 7

Chaka who? Hislop? Did you know he was a rocket scientist? Anyway…

Ooh, punk rock with little production value. Which means it sounds really ripping turned up loud. First song, “Automatic”, quite a repetetive little number, but I like it more than the first time I put it on. Vocals are very much like the more tuneful singer from Dillinger Four (they have that same Joyrider feel), and the song blasts a long in perhaps a similar vein to a simpler, rawer version of D4 in a way. An assault that burns itself into your brain.

On the B, we have a sort of Minor Threat / Dag Nasty sounding hard-core effort in “Purple Lipstick”, which really goes at full pelt, and “Gone” which is more low-production, old sounding melodic punk rock. Not so fussed with this one.

Yeah, pretty good, would wanna hear some more before I passed proper judgement though.
