Seachange - AvsCo10 - CD (2003)

Labels: Gringo
Review by: Andy Malcolm

A two track CD? WTF? It lasts about 5 minutes in total, maybe even less, I didn’t check that because I am not professional! Woot! Anyway, what could have been a ridiculous waste of plastic is actually pretty rocking for the brief amount of time that it spins inside my player, although I am struggling to really come up with a good description. It is a bit early Van Pelt-ish, with powerful vocals that are semi-sung / spoken, and the guitars and bass playing off each other to construct a grooving rhythm. Things gradually get more energetic and noisier as the song moves on but it never totally explodes. The second track is a short and is a twisty-turny burst of post punk. Maybe a bit Wire-ish or something. Don’t look at me, I only listen to emo bands.

Decent single, but should have been vinyl only.
