One could possibly question whether there has been a true emo 7″ released in the UK since Bob Tilton existed.
Snowman don’t give a crap about that though, they just cram all their teen-angst into 2 songs of explosive emo
desperation and fall around a lot. The first song on here “There’s A Girl In My Soup” is absolutely killer. You
can tell this band have been downloading tonnes of mid 90’s stuff off Soulseek for the past year as it is choc
filled with all your favourite cliches that even the Saddest Landscape would be proud of to feature on their
records! Excessive twinkling with multiple crying boys sobbing their hearts out, even doing some sad talky bits
and singing at towards the end, whilst the guitars roar and riff with ferocity. There are element of the Florida
sound, Don Martin 3 and early Twelve Hour Turn perhaps. And Bob Tilton too. Smart. This song is really excellent.
“I Have 104 Friends” is more Saetia-esque with it’s repetetive groove and screamed vocals, I prefer the other track but this is still decent. The drums roll and the guitar flirts between pretty twinkly bits and more driving rumbles. It’s a pretty lengthy song, drawing these elements out for the duration. Nice.
That these kids put out their own record is testament enough to their passion, the fact that they made some scorchingly good emo into the bargain is a bonus.
