Soon the Darkness - Parade of Enemies - split - 7

Labels: Atrocity Exhibition

Two UK bands here. On one record. Warsome. First up, London lads Soon the Darkness. They offer two songs of what you could class as ‘screamo’, although it sounds more melodic than the usual screamo sound (ie: it has something resembling a tune!!!). Sounds like it was recorded in a shoebox, but the chaotic nature of the music allows you to forget about this. And anyway, with most bands in this vein, you get a better idea of what they’re like in the live arena. Basically, if you like hard hitting emotional bands like Rydell, Sunfactor and Level 42, you may want to check this out!!

Parade of Enemies unfortunatley rub me up the wrong way. I hate hardcore at the best of times, and I especially hate it when it’s presented in a way like this. Crap predictable song titles like “Positive Hardcore” (hahaha), “South-Coast Thrash Attack” (yawn) and “Anti Youth Culture” have been done a million times before, and so has the sub-Kid Dynamite noise coming from my speakers. Plus the drummer isn’t very good. JUST SAY NO!
