Southpaw - Goddess - CD (1999)

Labels: Meantime
Review by: Andy Malcolm

3 track single from these boys who be local to me, they do. That’ll make them one of the 3 decent punk bands in Norfolk, a long with the Pod, and the Goobers (who’s recorded output I don’t think is so hot, but they are fun fun fun live). Still haven’t seen Southpaw play tho’.

This is good stuff, I only heard their previous single a couple of times, but this is a long the same lines. That sort of poppy, melodic hardcore sound with a bit o’ grit thrown in. I’m convinced the intro to “Goddess” is off a Leatherface song. Anyway, some Hooton 3 Car, some ‘face, some Blew, some Southpaw. Really rather rocking, and they even have an address so that me and Ian can get in contact with them to make them play a gig for us. Hurrah! Buy this so they don’t split up before that date. Love the big cartoon cat on the CD.
