Supersystem - Always Never Again - CD (2005)

Labels: Touch & Go
Review by: Alex Deller

Supersystem (formerly known to this world as one of a great many El Guapos) snap their fingers plenty and play smart dancey jams with that whole too-cool-for-school funkiness going on. Usually this kind of stuff makes me want to hang myself, but, for whatever reason, these folks manage to stave off my most ferociously suicidal urges and set my head a boppin’. Their rhythms slide effortlessly down the spine until toes begin to tap; hooks hole up in the brain and duct tape hostages; and, delightfully, they seem devoid of the irritating arrogance that stems from spoilt boys knowing how attractive they are. These fine peeps appear to be in it for the fun and the tunes, and while a touch more attitude mightn’t go amiss it’s a darn sight better than most of the damp squib cock-ends wiggling away and trying to out-goon the Rapture. Bravo.
