Supersystem is the new name for wicked rockers El Guapo. They’ve picked up their instruments and switched from Dischord to Touch & Go, home to Negative Approach and !!!.
This new single is pretty much straight up electro rock with a pinch of post-punk. Their last full length, “Fake French”, was fucking ace. It managed to blend experimentation with dance beats whilst still sounding like a DC band. “Born Into The World” isn’t that different from some of the more up-beat tracks on “Fake French”, it’s just more accessible. It’s not like they’re making a nosedive for whatever The Rapture or The Killers are on though as it still retains their weird edge. The b-side is an even danceier track, but it still sounds pretty good. While I find a lot of this stuff pretty puke inducing this single can pull it off, and I hope their upcoming full-length will be just as effective.
