Awesome hand screened covers and 2 unreleased tracks by both bands. Nothing too new with At The Drive In. More or less similar to the mellow tracks on In Casino Out. Quiet then loud shouted structures. Once again, with their lyrics. Are they being abstract or obscure or are they just sprouting nonsense? It’s an okay listen. But not something I would put on high rotation.
Next. The Aasee Lake. A quote from the NerdRock Records site , the Aasee Lake “wins an award for longest song title”. Indeed. ‘The Dualistic Struggle Between Good And Evil Within Ticket Lines And Reality’. Hrm. I was keen on checking them out knowing there are ex members of Guilt and Endpoint. An instrumental piece that starts of quiet and sombre. Dark shadows encompassing and slowly it mentally challenges your ears to listen more. (Probably a near comparison to Tristeza minus the keyboards.) Continuous drumming in the background pacing louder as the same rythm injects but never falling out of step. Subconsciously, you’re going “faster, faster.” And then it hits the tides, breaks the waves and halts. And I’m just floating in bliss.
