Woah, lucky escape there. Might have missed the quite exceptional Buffy The Vampire Slayer thanks to the BBC messing with its schedule. Phew!
Uhm, reviews then. The Babies Three and their full length album. This is going to disappoint a few people who liked the emotional hardcore sound that they seem to favour for their live set. Instead of a straight up emo-rock / hardcore belter, ‘Homosexual Love Ballads’ is predominantly punk-rock. Songs such as the fantastic ‘G.I’ show what this band can really do as they discharge a brawling mix of shouty vocals and subdued guitar. The punk efforts are passable with ‘N.M.E. is the Enemy’, encompassing a lovely melodic ending, being the pick of the bunch. The odd track that sounds like a punk enthused Symposium is best steered well clear of however.
Its a real shame, but this is a very average album. For a better idea of what the band sound like now check out the Tour CD which, in addition to top bands Sunfactor and Rydell, has three tracks by this five piece that are totally priceless.
