The Bonaduces - Bucko - split - 7

Labels: Endearing
Review by: Ian Cavell

Two band split 7″ on Endearing Records which is very nice indeed. Even if it does highlight the important issue of keeping the “thanks and info” section safely hidden from the pen of the resident whacked out lunatic.

Where would us lowly reviewers be without our “pop-punk like J Church” comparisons, eh? Heaven knows, we’d have to know stuff about music or further still be creative or something. Hardly bears thinking about. Anyway – the Bonaduces do have that J Church kind of sound going on but the warbling vocals owe more to the punkier Snuffy Smile bands. Sort of. Whatever, both ‘Planet Claire’ and ‘The Early Ayn Rand’ are really good, memorable pop-punk songs and definitely worth investigating further.

Bucko on the other aren’t like J Church at all. Instead they have some really, low down, gruff vocals alongside your less manic than usual punk-rock guitars. Both tracks are pretty average though which was a bit disappointing.
