Jesus… do Second Nature know how to make a record look good. A totally wickedsliding card packaging with a deep red vinyl – gorgeous to look at. CASKETLOTTERY put forward “Rip Van Winkle” from the new CD reviewed above and it’sup to scratch with the rest of the material on that, although not one of thebest on the thing. WAXWING… wow. It’d take a while to sum them up but I’lldo an overview. I was well impressed with the singer – husky, strained, subdued and spot on melodically – he’d go down well in an indie band. Veryjangly, spaced out emo-pop which reminds me of such bands as BRAID,APPLESEED CAST, and maybe a more subdued PROMISE RING somewhere? But totallymore laid back – don’t be fooled though, as it’s played with loads of heart.Actually yeah, there’s a lot of ARCHERS OF LOAF in their sound too -excellent indie-rock/emo-pop is my summary. I need to get more of this band, totally. All in all a great intro to 2 fantastic bands, rippin up the emoscene from the inside with heart, lungs and balls. Excellent.
