City on Film = Bob from Braid. Singing, playing guitar. With a guy called Brian on drums. You already know Bob can sing pretty good, though he’s a little more vulnerable here. Slow and pretty acoustic pop *sigh*
Kind of Like Spitting. I like that name. Is that a cool name or what? Don’t know why. What exactly is ‘kind of like spitting’? I can’t think of anything. When you go to spit but your mouth is dry? I have no idea. Uh-oh, melancholic, pure slowpop that also features a violin. That’s sure to do funny things to me. The singer virtually cracks on “There It Goes So It Goes” and then the song almost gets noisy! The brilliant cheek of it. “Free Advice” is a little more upbeat sounding but it isn’t really. Has sweetly done female backing vocals that sound familiar. It reminds me at times of when Fountains of Wayne do their best acoustic stuff. Man, I knew I recognised the voice! Because it has Elizabeth from Sarge on it.
Own it.
